A large business is done in the supplying of power units for motor-propelled life-boats, launches, and marine pumping sets. As far back as 12 years ago this company commenced the manufacture of engines especially suited fur industrial vehicles; it will therefore be conceded that the undertaking is 121 a position to supply power units incorporating the best engineering practice.
The concern manufactures engines in three sizes, the smallest being a 30 h.p. unit. To ensure economical fuel consumption and efficient carburation, special attention has been given by this designer in the matter of induction-pipe construction. In order to obtain the maximum amount of hot air necessary for consistent carburation, a hot-air passage has been east in the forward end of the crankcase sump, and a facing is provided for the fitting of an external elbow, by which means a pipe is connected from the jacket around the main engine exhaust to the hot-air intake.
It is interesting to record that the Dorman engine was awarded a subsidy certificate for excellent performance during the War Office trials which took place in October last.
