• Two drinkdriving convictions against one of Worksopbased Craven & Son's partners resulted in the company being warned that it could lose its 0-licence. The banned partner was the firm's CPC holder and a qualified LGV driver. The firm holds a national licence for three vehicles.

Taking no action other than to issue a "severe reprimand", North Eastern Deputy Traffic Commissioner Brian Horner said that partner Patrick Craven's repute and competence had both been seriously tarnished. He warned him that if there were similar offences in the future, the firm would certainly lose its 0licence.

Partner Patrick Craven admitted having a three-year driving ban. He said that the night he was drinking and driving he had been to the pub after work for a drink and was later involved in an accident as a passenger. He then thumbed a lift, and drove his car to pick up the driver and passengers.

Horner said the convictions reflected Craven's repute and to a lesser degree on his competence. He could understand the circumstances but could not condone them.
