Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

rrHE Western Welsh Omnibus Co. Ltd. is to close its depots at Port Talbot and Kenfig Hill. The company was in "a serious financial position", said the traffic manager, Mr. F. H. Pengelly. "The depots are being closed as a necessary economy measure," he added. More may be closed later.

Mr. Pengelly blamed uneconomic services, the Government's credit squeeze and the rejection of the company's recent application for a fare increase for the closures. "We warned that we might have to make some changes when the traffic commissioners turned down our application to increase fares," he said. "This is the first."

The closures take effect on September 25. The company has had a depot at Port Talbot since it was formed in 1927. Staff will not be made redundant. They will be offered alternative jobs at the company's Bridgend anc Neath depots.
