Mainly to accommodate cam-braked axles, but also to simplify installation, the Primrose air-pressure load-transfer system for single-drive tandem bogies has been redesigned. Instead of an underslung compressed-air cylinder linked to a lug on the balance beam between each tandem pair of springs there is now a simple bellows with 8 in. deflection potential, mounted on each main frame member above one end of each balance beam, as seen here. Known as the Hi-lift, the system counters wheelapin by transferring weight onto the driving axle and it also opposes axle hop. the Hi-lift will be shown by Primrose at Earls Court.
