VJEHICLES from which ice cream is V retailed have been undergoing a transforination over the years—smarter and more hygienic types being demanded by present-day standards. A good example of modern design is shown in the accompanying illustration of one of a number of such machines recently built by Reeve and Kenning, Ltd.. of Pilsbury, near Chesterfield. Based on an Austin 25-cwt. chassis, the body has a clerestory roof, with two ventilators on each side. The large windows on each side of the body are made to slide, half forward and half to the rear. of loading and unloading ice-cream con'miners, and turquoise Perspex lining is fitted to the whole interior of the body from the waist-line to the cantrail 'and to.the,counters. A stainless-steel sink, with Calor gas water heater is installed, and cupboards are provided in each corner at the front. for storage of a Calor gas container and utensils. A sliding door provides access to the body from the cab.
Austin exports to date in 1949 have reached the record number of 76,000 vehicles, valued at £26,000,000.
