Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

TESCO HAS REVEALED it is reviewing its biofuels strategy amid doubts over the sustainabiiity of the alternative fuel.

The announcement follows a similar statement from Marks & Spencer that it had dropped its plans to switch its fleet over to a high biodiesel mix after concerns were raised over its impact on fuel crop farming.

A recent CM investigation revealed interest in biofuels among operators had "dropped like a stone", according to the Society of Motor

Manufacturers and Traders (Only fuels rush in...', CM 18 September). This was due to their effect on world food prices and farming practices, which could potentially release vast amounts of CO2 into the atmosphere

Tesco uses a 50:50 biodiesel dery blend in its haulage fleet, but in light of recent concerns, the supermarket chain is monitoring the situation: "We are not changing our strategy at present," a spokeswoman says. "But we are aware that things aren't quite as clearcut as when we launched the policy, and so we're constantly reviewing it in light of the evidence available."
