COMMERCIAL VEHICLE registrations continued their positive trend this year. with September seeing an increase of 13.9%.

According to the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders. light CVs provided the strongest area of growth, up 15%, while truck registrations fell by 0.1%.

Early indications are that the light CV sector will beat the alltime record of 298,836 set back in 1989, Registrations of light vans (up to 1.8 tonnes) rose 22.5% for the month. with Vauxhall and Rover making the greatest gains. In the medium van sector, registrations were up by a massive 46.4% on the previous month, with the Transit Connect leading the charge.

There were no significant movers in the truck category. Only Renault and Scania made gains; the 4x4 market fell by 11.5% due partly to some withdrawals from the sector and the switch to car-type pickups.
