Transport formed
• A new company, P & 0 Transport Holdings Ltd, has been formed by the P & 0 Steam Navigation Company to co-ordinate and develop the activities of 60 existing non-shipowning companies within the Group, mainly in the field of freight transport both nationally and internationally. Director and chief executive of the new company will be Mr Terence P. Daly, 40, formerly director of the P & 0 Group accountant division.
A major task of the new company would be to review and assess any new business opportunities which occurred, he said. A first step in this direction was taken in May this year with the formation of Pandair Freight Ltd to bring the bulk of the P & 0 Group's air freight interests under one management. Among existing companies to be involved will be Ferrymasters, Blackmores Motor Transport, Cade and Sons, Cranmer Cartage, and Higgs Transport.
