Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

Following on information given recently on com mercial motor hire purchase contracts, a reader asks for comment on the larire Purchase Act, 1964.

Under the 1933 Act the hirer had the right to terminate an agreement at any time by returning the goods on hire to the owner and was then liable to pay any arrears outstanding and such further sums as represented any difference between the total amount already paid and 50 per cent of the hire-purchase price. Under the new Act the hirer receives entirely new I protection, and if the Court is satisfied that the loss suffered by the owner on termination is less than the I

1 amount he would have been entitled to recover under the 50-per-cent rule then in any proceedings I initiated by the hirer. the Court may order that such Llesser sum shall be paid by the owner.
