Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

rtA REDUCTION in overall height of frameless tanker semi-trailers of up to 1 ft. 6 in. is claimed for tanks of

conical design notv being produced by the road tanker division of Thermotank Ltd., Helen Street, Govan, Glasgow. The design provides a horizontal top line to the tank when it is coupled to the tractive unit, there being a rearwards slope to the bottom to facilitate discharge.

Tanks are available in mild steel, stainless steel or light alloy in capacities for outfits up to 33 tons g.v.w. Two 3,000gal. tanks have just been delivered to John Smillie of Glasgow and two units are now under construction, one for the Kinlochleven Road Transport Co. Ltd., the other for Esso Petroleum Co. Ltd., with capacities of 1.000 and 750 Cu. ft. respectively. The 1,000-cu.-ft. unit will carry alumina powder and, to facilitate tank discharge, fluidizing pads are fitted internally to the tank bottom. These measure 4 ft. by 5 ft each and consist of porous plastics material sandwiched between rubber and perforated metal. Activated by compressed air at 12 p.s.i. they give powder the characteristics of liquid.
