GLASGOW PRESTWICK International Airport has reported its highest volume of freight for two years, boosting work for local hauliers.

A total of 2,896 tonnes of freight went through the airport in October; the highest monthly figure since December 2004. The airport says more freight wals carried by all its scheduled carriers, including Atlas/ Polar and British Airways World C*go, which started services from Prestwick towards the end of the month.

Local haulier Tu-Max, which specialises in business from the airport, was among those to benefit.

Director Russell McIntosh says: 'The last six weeks have been very good, although the year up until then has been pr Ity poor. There is always a bit fan increase in the run-up to hristmas but manufacturin in this part of Scotland is no going very well just now."

Tu-Max carries a range of loads, including computer eq ipment, from Prestwick to de tinations including IreIan , London and other Scottislj airports.
