THE PRE-CHRISTMAS RUSH as started at Felixstowe container loll with the arrival of the biggest :ontainer ship in the world, the V/ V Emma Maersk.
The ship is 397m long. 61.5m ugh and as wide as a motorway. It arrived at the East Anglian port late on Sunday 5 November to of 3,0(l0 containers filled with Christmas goods.
The Emma Maersk is on the latest leg of its two-month maiden voYaP.e having left Gothenburg, Sweden and sailed to Yantian in China. Hong Kong and Tanjung Pelepas in Malaysia.
After unloading at Felixstowe it is scheduled to call at Rotterdam in the Netherlands to drop off another 8.0(X) containers.
