Francesco Ferrari fell asl after more than 15 hours at wheel. His truck mounted the road at J12 of the M20 near & gate. Kent. went straight over other side. ploughed throtq barrier and came to rest on its after rolling down a bank.

Ferrari was jailed for a year 14 days at Maidstone Crown Cc on 30 August this year after ph ing guilty to dangerous driving However. Mr Justice Pet Davey, sitting with Mr Jus. Pitchford at London's Crini Appeal Court, has now redu that sentence to nine months 14 days.

He said that although it important for the sentence to as a deterrent, 12 months was long for this offence.

But he concluded: "This n deliberately drove well beyonC capacity, knowing there was a . of very serious consequence: him falling asleep at the whee an LCiV while carrying a subst tial quantity of toxic and danl ous chemicals.

"We agree that this offence so serious that only a prison h was appropriate.
