Re your story headed: "The government considers paying hauliers to go away"( CM26 October-1 November).

My family has worked in transport all our lives. In fact the business goes back to 1926. Yes it is very hard at present, yet only through this government victimising our haulage industry in favour of rail.

Every haulier in this country should put aside £200 each and fight this government legally through the courts. I am sure there is a legal company somewhere which would be only too willing to help.

As for Lord Bradshaw. who is behind the plan, with respect, sir, get stuffed. I not only work in this industry for a living—I've always enjoyed my work. David Stephens
