Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

by John Kendall • Pro-Trux, the manufacturing division of the Slough Towbar Centre, has developed the Peugeot Boxer-based Autocarrier 35; a car/plant transporter body designed for 3.5tonne GVW front-wheeldrive chassis-cabs. There is also a 4.3-tonne GVW version.

Construction features include a galvanised chassis with tandem-axle conversion and aluminium body construction to reduce weight. Pro-Trux's Robert Selbie says that the original chassis is not cut, welded, or drilled and exhaust systems and fuel tanks are not modified.

Standard equipment includes: a Ramsey PRO 5000 winch and cable; six load-retaining rings; four ratchet straps; a towbar with 50mm ball and electrics; GRP side skirts; an adjustable-height flyer with secondary side/indicator and brake lamps; additional hazard lamps; work lights; side lockers and an ignition-controlled safety switch. Optional equipment includes jump leads, a remote-control winch, 2,400kg trailer and a tachograph.

The tandem axles are rated at 1,200kg for 3.5tonne models and 1,400kg for 4.3-tonne models. With a front axle rated at 1,650kg, this gives a total load tolerance of 550kg on the 3.5-tonner and 150kg on the 4.3-tonner.

Prices for a converted chassis start from £15,576 (ex-VAT), depending on the base chassis-cab.
