Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Besco has launched an aerodynamic body for the new Renault Midliner which, with a drag factor of 0.4, is claimed to save fuel by up to 25%.

The body was developed alongside the Leyland Daf Freighter Argos vehicle body (CM 20-26 July). It is built of GRP/plywood panels on a galvanised steel sub-frame with a translucent GRP roof.

The streamlining kit includes a cab roof fairing, a body collar with access hatches on both sides, and an under-bumper air dam. Radiussed cant rails and side skirts are also fitted. The side skirts are hinged to allow access to components such as the spare wheel and fuel tank.

An aerodynamic body costs about £2,500 more than a conventional body, but should pay for itself in fuel savings within 15 months on an annual distance of 50,0001un a year, Besco claims.
