THE MOTOR PANELS Herm-Tech concept cab made its final European show appearance last week at Autotech, the Institution of Mechanical Engineers-organised exhibition. at the National Exhibition Centre.

Later this month, the cab will be shipped to Vancouver, Canada where it will be the centrepiece of the British • exhibit at World Expo '86.

The theme of Expo, which runs from May ro November next year, is -Transportation", and the British exhibits have been chosen to demonstrate British technology and expertise in this field.

A Hemi-Tech cab was first displayed at the NEC, at the 1980 Motor Show, and attracted considerable attention because of its then futuristic styling and low weight.

All the Hemi-Tech's panels are aluminium alloy which results in a cab weight about one third of that of a conventional steel panelled one.

From a manufacturer's viewpoint, the cleverest part of the Herni-Tech design is that the same press took can be used for steel or aluminium panels.

The cab on display in Vancouver has the latest interior refinements which were first shown at Frankfurt in September.

Motor Panels has not yet decided what will replace the Heini-Tech as its British Motor Show exhibit next year, but the company is known to be well advanced in the development of several alternative materials for cab construction.
