FROM my experience so far, there
is a genuine desire and effort on the part of the Railway and Road Haulage Executives and the British Transport Commission to meet, a.s adequately as possible, the needs of users, but in a great organization of this kind, which must tend towards bureaucratic control, users are sometimes lost sight of in the business of running a vast machine."
Prof. R. Peers, chairman of the East Midlands Transport Users' Consultative Committee, made this statement recently when he spoke in Nottingham. He said that his task as chairman had,besen much heavier than he had imagined and added that the committee had no real jurisdiction in road passenger transport.
