Since 2009, Transport for London (TfL) and Crossrail have been implementing rigorous safety requirements for firms wishing to work in London to reduce the number of incidents and fatalities involving cyclists and construction vehicles. The measures include new safety equipment such as: blind spot prevention measures and left-turn alarms, which cost about £1,250 per vehicle; driver training; and permanent compliance checks to vehicles visiting construction sites.
