launch its new maximum payload steel tipper body, Stonemaster (pictured on trial at Day Aggregates), at Tip-ex later this month.
Stonemaster offers a payload of 20 tonnes when fitted to the majority of UK specification 8x4 chassis, according to Thompsons.
Thompsons director Scott Burton said: "There have been steel bodies that can get a 20-tonne payload, but they've usually only had a few kilos to spare. Add the driver and a tank of fuel, and they've lost it. In contrast, Stonemaster gives operators a wider, safer leeway that makes 20-tonne payloads achievable with typical, standard specification 8x4 chassis. Elsewhere, German trailer manufacturer Schmitz Cargobull is making its debut at Tip-ex, with three new trailers available to the UK market. The manufacturer will exhibit a sliding floor trailer for the bulk transport sector and two half-pipe tipper trailers.
• Tip-ex is the UK's only exhibition dedicated to the tipper and bulk transport sector. The show takes place from 30 May to 1 June at the Harrogate International Centre. Entrance is free, so register now at tip-ex.co.uk
