111 An Essex haulier is appealing for information after his truck was stolen from a yard in Ardleigh, just seven weeks after he bought it.
Tiptree-based BH Trucking discovered the theft on 22 April when the driver turned up to collect the truck from its yard and found that the padlock securing the gate had been cut and that his N-reg FL10 Volvo tractor worth £6,000 was missing.
It was also discovered that there had been an attempt to steal a similar truck which had its steering column and lock barrel broken causing £500 worth of damage.
"I've never known anything like this before. I have been an owner-driver for 12 years and decided to take the opportunity to buy another truck because business has been picking up; just seven weeks later it is stolen," says the firm's owner Brett Featherstone. "I haven't had anything back on it yet. I've had to borrow a truck from a contractor to carry out my work."
A spokesperson for Essex police says they are still investigating the incident.
