The Smart eaves scheme, organised by he Freight Transport ssociation, was designed to ;how the children the benefits )f a career in the industry.

As part of the project hey were given a guided tour )f the show by industry men:ors from a range of compalies including TNT and Safeway. They were also able :o talk to a number of people n the industry including Nikki (ing, managing director of suzu Trucks, and Transport Vlinister David Jamieson. John Hix, head of training development at the FTA, says: "Smart Moves is about industry putting its best foot forward, to demonstrate the commitment we all must take in order to attract new recruits. Freight transport and logistics provide exciting career paths in a vital industry which will always be required by the economy and the consumer. But we simply do not have enough recruits."

Chris Winters, work experience co-ordinator at Sheldon High School, says that he had a positive response from his pupils and adds that some are hoping to go on to do work experience in the industry.
