• Unit '91, the owner-drivers association founded by haulier Mike Pickering, received a boost at last weekend's Commercial Motor Truckfest when more than 500 drivers asked for application forms (CM 25 April-1 May).
It currently has 120 members who operate more than 1,000 trucks, Pickering hopes to increase membership to 1,000 in the next six months by organising a two-week recruitment roadshow for next month.
