• The recession in the truck industry may be bottoming out, but it shows few signs of recovery, judging by the latest SMMT figures.
Commercial vehicle sales for April were 19,406 — down over 27% from 26,799 in April 1990. Sales since January are 79,459: down 31.58%.
Sales of HGVs in April were half of what they were in the same month last year, at 2,647 compared with 4,901.
