THE strict enforcement of drivers hours rules for heavy vehicles was an important road safety measure emphasised Under-secretary for Transport Kenneth Clarke, when he was urged in the Commons last week to review the types of vehicles granted exemption from the tachograph regulations.
He said that Britain had already taken advantage of all exemptions permitted by Community regulations and this would need the agreement of all member states.
