TO MAKE SURE that what had been described as "excellent maintenance facilities" would be used in the future, North-western Licensing Authority Roy Hutchings has renewed a Northwich haulier's international licence for one year only.
The LA was not satisfied the company had exercised sufficient supervision over vehicle maintenance in the past.

Rimmer said he carried out a maintenance investigation at the premises of James Caffery and Sons Ltd last January when 13 vehicles and 19 trailers were operated on general haulage. Facilities were good and the fitting staff adequate, but on examining six vehicles and eight trailers he imposed one immediate and two delayed prohibitions, and three defect notices.
