Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

GENTRANSCO, the London shipping and forwarding agent, has been advised by its office in Tehran that the Turkish authorities are now limiting the weight of goods in transit by road to 18,500kg (18.2 tons) payload per vehicle.

When vehicles are weighed at the Turkish border, if they are found to be as little as lkg (2.21b) overweight the tilt will be opened and the excess removed, Gentransco has been told. This will mean that the Customs seal has been broken and will lead to resealing complications and delays.

The DoE was unaware this week of the new regulation and the Turkish Embassy in London referred CM to the Turkish Syndicate of Transport in Ankara. At the time of going to press the Syndicate had not replied to our Telex.
