Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

CLOSER links with the travelling public are planned by Maidstone and District Motor Services, and East Kent Road Car Company. In order to bring this about they have appointed 30 district inspectors each in charge of one particular area. Within these areas their job will be to establish contact with passengers and organisations concerned with public transport, to investigate bus service problems and generally to be the companies' local representatives.

East Kent traffic manager Peter Daykin told CM: "Levels of service, bus connections, bus-stop siting, marketing and publicity will all be the district service inspectors' responsibility."

Mr Daykin hoped the inspectors could assess the travel needs of the rural populations and recommend necessary service improvements.
