THE RHA has fired the first shot in its campaign to keep Britain in the EEC. It has sent a leaflet to each of its 18,000 members saying that a decision to withdraw from the Common Market would place the future of the road haulage industry in jeopardy. It warns that jobs in the industry depend on the prosperity and prospects of customers and that trade and industry is in no doubt that leaving the EEC would "do immense harm to our economy."
The choice for road haulage was simple, says the leaflet. If the UK came out of the EEC substantially f e wer goods would be produced, trade would shrink and the work of the road haulage industry would decline.
The RHA asks all its members to ensure that their employees see the leaflet.
