• Road crash victim Pamela Bullard has won £250,000 compensation for injuries she suffered when her pedal cycle was in collision with a lorry.

Thirty-six-year-old Bullard of Nettlestead, Ipswich, Suffolk, hurt her spine in the accident nearly four years ago, resulting in tetrapler4a. Because of her injuries, she sued lorry driver John Sandison and the firm he worked for, Hunter Saphir.

Bullard accepted an offer of £250,000 in the High Court last week in settlement.

The award was made against Sandison of Hometts West End, Essendon, near Hatfield, Hertfordshire, and the company, based in Whitstable Road, Faversham, Kent.

The accident happened on the Al2 near the junction with Hasketon Road, Woodbridge, Suffolk, on 29 April, 1985.

Bullard suffered concussion, a bad fracture to the left leg and dislocation of her right hip_ There were cuts and bruises on her head, legs and hands, as well as the spinal injury. She remained in intensive care until June 1985 and was admitted to Stoke Mandeville Hospital's spinal unit where she stayed for six months.
