• Dormobile won a record 2750,000 of orders last month, to boost its order books to 22.7 million. More than 150 enquiries regarding PSV production came in during the month, says Dorrnobile, mostly about the Routemaker, which is now in full production on Mercedes-Benz, Iveco Ford, Renault and Freight Rover chassis.
The company is developing two new Routemakers, both with Mercedes-Benz chassis. The 811-chassised version will seat up to 33 and the 709 model up to 25; both have room for 11 standees. Dormobile has also designed a conversion kit for a coach-built body on a Mercedes 608 van chassis.
Works director Colin Young has re-organised the assembly lines at the Folkestone plant to meet the demand surge.
