Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Grampian Transport has shed 28 staff within a month of its management-employee buyout. The 28, all supervisory and clerical employees, were offered redundancy or alternative employment in a move aimed at cutting overheads.

The employees affected formed about 4% of Grampian's staff; 12 are clerical, managerial and technical; five skilled and 11 semi-skilled. No driving jobs are affected and there will be no cuts in routes.

Managing director Moir Lockhead claims employees were made aware before the buyout that staffing levels would be reviewed. The reductions have now been agreed with the TsiGwu. For some Grampian Transport staff, January's buyout has proved the end of the line.
