Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

MARKS and Spencer is testing Greater hush-kits on some of its heavy lorries. London Council-approved This emerged recently after the GLC said that M and S had denied it.

GLC transport committee chairman Dave Wetzel has written a letter arguing that contrary to a statement at a Freight Transport Association meeting in January by M and S's transport executive Derek Archdeacon, M and S is trying out hush-kits.

A company spokesman told CM that Mr Archdeacon said that he could not recall the "exact coversation" at the meeting. But he had been fully aware that M and S had "a number of vehicles" fitted with hush-kits for trial.

But the spokesman added that the company was unconvinced about the long-term efficiency of the hush-kits, and that it was looking at the problems involved.
