Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

THE GOVERNMENT has planned to open 14 motorway service stations in England, Transport Minister Lynda Chalker has told MPs.

But the only one to open in the near future is at Ferrybridge at the junction of the M62 and Al, which will open early next month.

The longest stretch of motorway without any service station is 90 miles between the northern end of the M11 and the M20 at Maidstone.

Mrs Chalker said that four service areas were planned for the M25, one for the M11 at Birchhanger, which will be opened in about two years, an area on the M4 near Reading, up to three sites on the M20 and another three sites on the M40.

The rest area at Brent Knoll on the M5 will be upgraded to a full service area by the end of next year.
