WEIGHT restrictions on a Cardiff shopping area have been slammed as a safety hazard by the Freight Transport Association in a letter to the South Glamorgan County Council.
The ban applies to vehicles over two tons unladen delivering to shops in the Albany Road area and they are prohibited from using five roads in the area for egress.
FTA has accused the South Glamorgan County Council of producing an artificial cul-desac out of which vehicles would have to reverse on to a major road.
FTA says that at the same time the council's own report shows that any concern on lorry traffic is related to only a few vehicles a week.
