I refer to your item (CM February 23) concerning the cancellation of the Agristock Conference. I provided information over the telephone which has become slightly distorted.
First, the RHA Transport Show is not to the best of my knowledge afflicted by "a delicate state of finances''. Indeed it would seem that the RHA Transport Show, to be held in Brighton in October this year, is assured of excellent support and finance will be no problem at all.
Secondly, I did say that delegates would prefer to attend the Brighton Show rather than Agristock. I merely expressed a personal view that pressure of business could result in our Agristock Group members deciding to attend one or the other function but not both, and this could be to the detriment of both functions.
With regard to future Agristock conferences, again I expressed a personal opinion that there was a possibility that the Agristock Conference could become a bi-ennial event and might change its venue to provide as many group members as possible with the opportunity to
attend. As for 1980, no defi decision has yet been taken, the matter is under considi tion.
Finally, I was represented being the national chairman both the Agricultural and Li stock Groups. This is not case. I am chairman of the R Agricultural Functional Gro nationally and Mr David Nels is chairman of the Livestc Hauliers Functional Gro nationally.
