Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

MACK has introduced a new version of its Intestater 4x2 tractive unit with a shortened wheelbase as part of its programme to produce a European range of vehicles.

The new wheelbase of 134in (3,404mm) has been achieved by moving the front axle back by 22in (559mm) to give it a more "European" look.

Mack has also altered the vehicle's front brakes to give it a spring brake system within the three-line cam-operated unit to act with the spring parking brakes to front and rear.

The company says that moving the axle backwards gives a better turning circle and a better ride which comes from the use of longer front springs.

More weight can also be taken by the front axle as a result of the relocation, but the vehicle still has an unladen weight of 6,200 kgs (6.1 tons) and a designed maximum weight of 37.4 tons (38,000kgs) — the plated weight is still 32 tons (32,512kg). It is thought that Mack will extend its range of designedfor-Europe vehicles in the near future — possibly to include models not marketed in other parts of the world.
