HAULIERS MADE more trips from the UK to mainland Europe last year compared to the previous year, according to oficial igures.
New igures from the Department for Transport covering journeys taken from ferry ports in Great Britain to Europe in the year to Q1 2011, reveal 1.82 million HGVs passed through during the period (up 3% yearon-year).
Just 21%, or 385,000, of these vehicles were UK registered.
Leading foreign registered vehicles in the irst three months of the year were 256,000 from Poland, 199,000 from the Netherlands, 153,000 from Germany and 130,000 from France.
