RT Keedwell began life in 1969 as a small independent haulage company set up by Stuart Keedwell’s father Ray. The business started with just one truck, moving local goods including fruit and vegetables, and peat from the Somerset levels. The company expanded gradually, but in 1993 lost a major contract and was forced to downsize to just 12 trucks operating out of a single depot. However, the business soon recovered, and before long had acquired its first satellite depot in Carlisle. Nearly 20 years later, the Keedwell Group operates more than 400 trucks and 1,000 trailers from 10 depots, turning over in excess of £50m a year.
