• Heron Distribution lost two major contracts last week which are believed to be worth up to Lima year.
The profitable transport subsidiary of Gerald Ronson's insolvent Heron International group is expected to be sold off separately within the next few weeks. The loss of the contracts with Gateway and Reed International subsidiary Tiger Print follow a decision by Burmah Fuels and Heron to scrap a delivery deal (CM 17-23 March).
The Gateway contract is understood to have involved up to X6rn a year for distribution to stores from Gateway-managed regional distribution centres in Bridgwater,
Somerset, and Huntingdon, Cambs.
Tiger Print has terminated its five-year agreement with Heron and given the estimated Llm a year contract to Peter Black.
The print company says its decision was influenced by Peter Black's location and its good working relationship with one of Tiger Print and Peter Black's mutual major clients, Marks and Spencer.
