to cover the drivers' blockade last month. The reporter came back after two days bedraggled and swearing he would never cross the Channel from Dover — strike or no strike.
Last week he was asked to go to Frankfurt and immediately his face went green — "I'm not going through Dover," he cried, "please, don't send me through Dover," he pleaded. We had mercy on the poor soul and decided to send him via a brand new route — the Euroskyhop, a plane and coach company operating out of Southend, Essex.
The reporter came back quite delighted by the trip. A short hop in a Viscount from Southend airport took him to Ostend where, he says, it took less than 25 minutes from leaving the plane to boarding a luxury Neoplan double-decker, Two videos, three beers and a nap later, he was in the centre of Germany's financial capital Frankfurt.
"When can I go again?" he wants to know.
