near Greenodd in the Lake District is to close for one month from 16 June so that a temporary bridge can be built over the old stone arch bridge at Crake River.
The bridge's condition had deteriorated so much that a 25tonne limit was imposed at the end of last year. A 38-tonne limit will be restored as quickly as possible.
The temporary Bailey bridge will provide a single-lane crossing controlled by traffic lights for 18 months, after which a permanent bridge will be built.
