SENIOR MANAGERS have been urged to delve into their transport costs and not to leave it to junior staff.
Junior Transport Minister David Mitchell opening the Freight Forwarders' new Transtec headquarters in Reading said this would pay many firms handsomely.
He recommended that businessmen should compare their direct costs with quotes from freight forwarders. He said that the forwarders who acted as principals were able to quote from the complete movement.
The Government welcomed this, he said, and he thought that there was little doubt that there were sufficient substantial companies with the market power to negotiate favourable rates for their customers.
