Contract A Switches to Fore in All Areas
CONTR ACT A switches are again to the fore in all areas, with the occasional trader wishing to put his Clicensed vehicle to more remunerative use. There are also several optimistic operators asking for "general goods, Great Britain."
An application by R. G. King, of Salcott, for two units, with a comprehensive general-purpose normal user-goods for certain named customers, also haulage within 200 miles, and to act as maintenance replacement vehicles-should prove interesting.
In the Scottish (South) area, McKelvie and Company have applied to add five articulated units to their A fleet with a
wide scope. Other substantial applications include one by J. R. Evans (Mobberley), in the North Western area, for a new A licence for six vehicles, whilst East Midland hauliers will no doubt be watching an application by Kcythorpe Transport, Lid. (Leicester), to operate seven vehicles under a new B licence.
A West Midlands decision, granting five vehicles to Alfred Bell, Ltd., should greatly ease distribution troubles at their Kingswinford warehouse. This company were recently successful in adding to their Newcastleand London-based A fleets. A further application awaits hearing in the Metropolitan area,
