E1GHT applications have been made .1-4 to the Northern Licensing Authority for sanction to increase fares. Mr. James. Dickinson, of Hexham, is seeking to raise the return fare between Ilexham and Birtley, which now stands at 2s. 3d.. by 25 per cent.
Mr. Cecil Moffatt, of. Acomb, Ilexham, has applied to increase return fares on six routes from 2s. 6d. to 3s., 5c1. to 6d., 2s. 3d. to 2s. 9d., Is. 8d. to 2s., and 4s. 9c1. to 5s. 8d. Increases in single fares are also proposed.
Messrs. Shaw Brothers, of Spennymoor, are seqking to raise return and single fares from 5d. to 7d. and 3d. to 4d. respectively, Newcastle City Couneil is being recommended to increase fares.
