Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

THE GOVERNMENT has unveiled the series of roads that will give priority to key personnel at the 2012 London Olympic Games at peak times.

The Department for Transport has issued a list of 232 sections of existing roads across the capital' — the Olympic Route Network (ORN) — that athletes, officials and the media can use in the mornings and evenings to travel to venues In the past few months. the Freight Transport Association (ETA) and the Road Haulage Association (RHA) have expressed fears that the ORN could restrict daytime access to shops for delivery drivers, as well as affect other services such as refuse collection and street cleaning.

Chrys Rampley. RIIA manager for infrastructure, environment and business affairs, says: "Delivery drivers must be allowed to go about their business during the 2012 Olympic Games with the minimum of disruption. The route network has the potential to have a big impact on deliveries.

We will continue to put pressure on the government and organisers of the 2012 London Olympic Games to make sure that the voice of road transport operators is heard." Gordon Telling, the ETA's London policy manager. says: "Hauliers need to study the roads and make sure any potential problems over deliveries are known about."

The Olympic DeliveryAuthority (ODA) is planning to set up a consultation on the planned routes with businesses and residents in the capital.

More details about the routes can be found in a downloadable document, The ORN Designation Order 2009, which can be found at: hit p://bitlyItMilvG • See CM's Investigation on page 22 for the latest on hauliers in the construction industry.
