Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Whale Tankers, Leigh Environmental and Rotherham Borough Council have together tackled some of the major problems facing municipal authorities today like noise/waste pollution, vandalism and theft.

Solihull-based Whale, with Leigh Environmental, has produced a high-performance vacuum/ pumping vehicle capable of holding noise levels at no more than 85dB(A) when working at full power.

Nicknamed the Whispering Whale, it is based on a Leyland Daf 8x4 chassis and uses a 181KW (243hp) Volvo Penta to help it convey liquids, sludges and solids from depths of more than 30m. The auxiliary power unit, exhauster-compressor and jetting pump are contained within the sound-insulated compartment, in front of the 13,600 litre tank.

Rotherham Borough council has also invested in an enclosed jetter vehicle from Whale Tankers to provide tamper-proof security for the council's 24hour emergency drain cleaning service.

It is based on a 4.0m Leyland Daf FA45-130 rigid chassis with P1-0-driven Speck P30 pump capable of delivering 45 lit/min at up to 137 bar, The 2,700 litre steel tank and associated filling and jetting equipment is carried within the 6.4m Wilsden body.

Shuttered front compartments and rear closure provides easy access to the jetting controls and equipment to keep the storage space secure.
