• Lynx has brought forward its plans to implement a hub and spoke system by 18 months following the withdrawal of Federal Express from the UK parcels market.
About 200 (7%) of the NFCowned parcels carrier's workforce will be made redundant in November.
Lynx's Birmingham site will close in September, with the work being taken over by new sites at Walsall and Northampton.
Lynx has bought Federal Express's Nuneaton hub for £4m; almost half the amount the company had earmarked for a new development.
The new hub will increase Lynx's capacity by 50% to 150,000 packages a day. It currently handles 100,000.
