Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Sandy Glennie is moving from his job as head of Volvo Bus (GB) to take on the role of managing director of marketing at Plaxtons, the Scarboroughbased coachbuilders.

Glennie moves to Plaxtons after nine years with Volvo, and joins the Plaxtons main board. "The opportunity of helping revitalise the famous and much respected Plaxtons Coachbuilding Company has proved irresistible," says Glennie, "and I take on the marketing challenge with pride and a lot of enthusiasm . . sales research shows the market is now beginning to grow and I predict that exciting news will flow regularly from Scarborough."

The appointment of Glennie is part of Plaxtons Group managing director David Mathews' plans to, "create a Jaguar style turn-around" at the coachbuilders.

Another new main board member at Plaxtons is Neil Beresford, 39, who has been promoted from general manager of the coach division Sandy Glennie to managing director of Plaxtons manufacturing companies.

Beresford will take responsibility for the luxury coach manufacturing plant at Eastfield, Scarborough, for the Reeve Burgess minibus plant near Chesterfield, and for Wilfred Overton, the specialist fittings manufacturer based at Wednesbury.

Plaxtons has won a contract to supply 41 luxury coach bodies for the 1988 season. Smiths Shearing Group, part of Pleasurama, has ordered 31 low-floor 3200 bodies and 10 high-floor 3500 bodies. The 3200s will be built on Leyland Tiger chassis and the 3500s on Volvo 1310M chassis. A further 51 secondhand vehicles will be supplied to Smiths Shearing by Plaxtons subsidiary Kirkby Bus and Coach.
