Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

WE HEAR from our members that the French Police have a quaint folk custom of liveninj those tedious waits at the tol with tachograph checks and speeding fines based on tact evidence.

Although British drivers ar aware that in Britain evideno from a tachograph is not sufficient in itself for prosecu on a speeding charge, there i some confusion as to the laA France.

It seems that the EEC Regulation does not concern itself with the use of tachogri charts for speeding checks, s individual member countries can legislate as they wish on subject.

In Britain when tachos wer first introduced the Minister Transport gave an undertaki that prosecution would not t permitted on tacho evidencs alone. However, French domestic law does permit it, condition that it is possible t determine where the speedi offence was committed.

Even this glimmer of hops seems likely to fade next mo though, when a new law removing this condition will probably come into effect. C traditions die hard .
